What happens when I commission you?
First, we discuss your goals and how the work fits into your overall business strategy – is it a comms piece, exhibition text, web copy, sustainability report? What does it need to achieve?
Next, I send you a quote, along with my terms. Once you approve these, your order is confirmed. When you receive the work, feel free to ask about anything you’re unsure of. I encourage feedback as it helps me get to know you and your business. For more details, see How it works.
How long does it take?
Every project comes with unique challenges and needs to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
As a rough guide, a professional translates around 2,500 words per 8-hour day. However, this depends: transcreation (adapting advertising content), takes longer, e.g. transcreating a 5-word strapline can take several hours of research and strategy. Your personalised quote will provide guidance on timescales and what to expect.
Copywriting projects vary depending on your requirements.
How much does it cost?
Each project requires a bespoke quote. Both translation and copywriting are highly complex skills that demand extensive linguistic expertise, in-depth subject knowledge and research, so you should expect each service to cost in line with other professional services.

How do I know my confidential documents are safe?
I fully understand the need for confidentiality. I never upload my clients’ materials to AI tools (e.g. LLMs) or any other publicly accessible program. Your documents will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Additionally, some clients like to have an NDA in place or use password-protected file transfer protocols. Whichever your preferred approach, you can feel reassured that your materials are in safe hands.
Can I hire you on a retainer basis?
I have a small number of spots open to clients wishing to work on a retainer basis. These spots are based around your needs, and the scope can be as elastic as you need it to be.
Do you offer interpreting services?
No, I do not offer interpreting – I only work with the written word. However, I may be able to recommend a colleague who does. Email me with what you’re looking for and I’ll try to help.
Do you use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to translate or write content?
No. There are many reasons why I choose not to use AI tools for translation or copywriting, including concerns over privacy, accuracy and sustainability. AI may have potential in terms of basic research, but when it comes to writing your content, I prefer to take the 100% human, bespoke approach. Ask to see my AI Usage Policy for more details.
Can you translate into other languages?
I only translate from German and French into English. It’s standard practice in the translation sector to only translate into your native language (or a language you truly master to native level). A native speaker understands every quirk and nuance of their language to a far greater degree than someone who simply has a good command of two languages.
